Class at a glance: This is a 2 weeks unit where students will review, practice and rehearse all vocabulary, verb conjugation, write complete sentences
Notes: This class is for HS credits. Most students have already seen most of the material since new curriculum was implement recently.
Proficiency: The activities may be change, modified or postpone depending of students’ knowledge of vocabulary and general language structure. These are review sessions, where students will put in practice what they already know. The teacher will work one-one when possible.

This week HISPANIC FASHION DESIGNER
Students will be exposed to important Hispanic designers and will interview them based on their stories. Students will read and answer questions about their biographies. They will pretend they are a reporter from a social magazine and create their own interview.
Postponed from last week:
Students will be able to make statements about items of clothing they want or need using Me gusta- No me gusta when items are shown by the teacher
Students will be able to make statements demonstrating that they understand what type of clothing should be worn in certain situations.

Unit at a glance:
This is a TEACHER-MADE unit where the students will learn all about conjugation, verb, sentence and question structure in Spanish. The general atmosphere will be more like a tutoring like classroom where students will review and practice based on their proficiency level and learning style.
Objectives:

ELA activity this week: Teachers were encourage to prepare an activity to teach explicit reading comprehension TEXT DEPENDENT strategies this week. I borrowed a already planned strategy that suit the current theme and topic: ALL ABOUT SCHOOL. Students will be reading about an inspiring Bolivian Teacher who taught the students the beauty of Math and Calculus.

Class at a glance: This is a 3 weeks unit where children learn to talk about what they do at school. They extend their knowledge of telling the time and express likes and dislikes of school subjects, using some simple adjectives to describe them. They will also conjugate verbs related to school. And will talk about their favorite teachers, classes and activities within the school setting.

Topic: Family (parts f the house- chores- family celebrations) PART 1
Standards: #2 Understand words and concepts presented in the language #3: Use the language to present information to an audience
Vocabulary: family members- rooms of the house- chores- my dormitory
Essential questions: Como es tu family? Como es tu cuarto? How is your family? How is your dormitory?
Unit at a glance: After learning the rooms of the house and furniture, and review family members, students will then be expected to describe people and objects and activities in the house. This lesson will help provide them with the proper uses of verbs related to house and chore and also with the cultural aspects of house and chores perspectives from the Hispanic/Latino world. The students will be able to effectively compare their own homes to the model home in the text, or the teachers or a classmate’s home, or even ideally the home of a person who lives and breathes the culture of the target language. They will also compare their family members to one another.

Unit at a glance: This unit is about describing self and others (family and friends) . The goals of this unit are three: students have to be able to continue introducing themselves, describe themselves and be able to ask someone else what he/she is like and express their preferences those of both friends and family. The teaching and learning mode is to understand gender is a very important part when introducing and describing people since it impact the language structure, considering adjective agreement and its variants. CULTURE: We are hoping to collaborate with our Health Class to develop a lesson to discuss body image in the United States and body image in Spanish-speaking countries. It is typical in Latin-America to be more comfortable with physical descriptions without it being offensive. Not only is there a different perception of beauty, there is also less pressure to look or dress a certain way. It is thought this could be an interesting topic to discuss as our students start to enter the middle school years of increased awareness and vulnerability to body image concerns. The day of the dead will be incorporated as a holiday for family reunion in the Latino World
