Essential question: What types of words are there in the language? What is the Spanish conjugation patter? ¿Cómo te comunicas con los demás/la sociedad? How do you communicate with others in your society?

Unit at a glance: In this unit students will be introduced to the Spanish Language grammar and syntax. The will learn the classification of words based of the accent with a theme in Technology and Social Media. They will talk about positive/negative aspects of social media interaction, how to effectively and appropriately communicate via social media in today’s world. The topic wil guide conversation and assessments about the structure of the target language.

Topic: Food- Beverages & Restaurant
Vocabulary: What is your favorite food? Beverage? Dessert? Restaurant?
vOCABUALRY queso, arroz, salchicha, pollo, leche, manzana, papas fritas, helado, pastel, frijoles, carne, ensalada, pan, jugo, etc
Language Proficiency: Novice low /Mid Advance low (native speakers)
Unit at a glance: In this unit students will be introduced to the vocabulary and cultural aspects of the Hispanic Cuisine. The final goal is that for them to be able to express food and beverages preferences in a written and oral way while awareness plus taste of the differences cuisine styles and flavor of the Hispanic World. Every Friday or when possible students will taste and enjoy some samples of the Hispanic Cuisine and will play Kahoot with food and Hispanic Cuisine. This unit will last at least 2-3 weeks since the Topic is divided in minor subtopic presentation of Hispanic Cuisine by each student, reading about Hispanic food and vocabulary about food and beverages. Students will practice using new grammar structures to create a menu for a Latin American restaurant. Depending of the group and their language proficiency as well as engagingness on the topic the vocabulary and grammar will be simplified. This topic will also include some reading related to Hispanic Community Food, recipes, traditions around meals. Students will be able to talk about their own leisure activities and those of friends and family. Also they will express preferences about places and activities after school and during vacations to their country of origin when possible.
