By the end of this class students will be able to:
Spanish Exploratory:
Spanish Beginning: (LESS THAN A YEAR)
Retest Procedures: Students who miss or do not pass a test will have an opportunity to retest provided they have completed missing work (class work & homework) associated with the unit and/or made test corrections within two weeks of the original test date. Students can also ask for after school support before retaking any quiz/test or need extra feedback about a major project.
Interactive Notebook rules and procedures: There will always be room for improvement with this classroom tool. Students can improve their grades as long as they are responsible for handing in the notebook back to the teacher on a timely manner. Students have to be neat and creative with the activities complete in the notebook. They have to have all given directions, labels and other ways to identify their work to get a good grade.

Course Description for Heritage Language Level I This course is designed specifically for native or heritage speakers of a language other than English who already have some oral language proficiency. The purpose of this course is to enable students to develop, maintain, and enhance their proficiency in the heritage language by providing them the opportunity to listen, speak, read, and write in a variety of contexts and for a variety of audiences, including the family, school, and the immediate community. The course will allow students to explore the cultures that use the heritage language, including their own, and it will enable students to gain a better understanding of the nature of their own language as well as other languages to be acquired.

Proficiency Levels: Novice High and Intermediate Low/Mid/High
Course Description for Heritage Language Level II Students enrolled in this course have either successfully completed a Heritage Language Level I course at the middle or high school or have placed out of Level I due to previous language study and/or established proficiency. This course is designed specifically for native or heritage speakers of a language other than English who already have some oral language proficiency. The purpose of this course is to enable students to further develop, maintain, and enhance their proficiency in the heritage language by providing them the opportunity to listen, speak, read, and write in a variety of contexts and for a variety of audiences, including the family, school, and broader community. The course will allow students to explore the cultures that use the heritage language, including their own, and it will enable students to gain a better understanding of the nature of their own language as well as other languages to be acquired.

- School supplies needed:

- Composition notebook (mandatory) spiral notebook are not recommended.
- 3 ring binder or folder to keep worksheets
- Dictionary
- Make sure students update his/her Interactive notebook every day at home
- Take him to the Public Library to check out some bilingual books you can read together at home.
- Have a dictionary available or help him to use online translating tools.
- Send Sra. Leon an email every other week to check on your child’s behavior/academics.
